Question: I want to start running again, but I have developed a bad left ankle and knee(due to a broken ankle last year). Do Nike Shox help absorb jarring of the joints, or is there some other shoe that might be better ?
Answer: I am not sure why so many of the above answerers are so against the Nike Shox, which are definitely decent running shoes. I run marathons all the time, and a large number of my running buddies run with Nike Shox without a problem. If they're good enough for running marathons, I'm sure they're good enough for your needs as well. The only complaint I ever heard was that the cushioning wears out quickly, which can be an issue since the Shox are sorta pricey. Otherwise, they are fairly good shoes. However, I do not think that the Nike Shox are any better than a lot of other running shoes out there. Many running shoes provide cushion to absorb the impacts from running, and they do similarly well. They include the Asics Gel Cumulus, Mizuno Waverider, and Brooks Glycerin. Just go with whichever one fits you better. If you are concerned about your ankle, you may wish to consider a brace until your ankle is fully recovered. A few of my running buddies have had success with the Pro-Tech Achilles Tendon Strap (see link below). Good luck on your recovery~!
