What's the difference between dummy rounds and snap caps?

Question: I've got a couple of .22LR-using guns, and of course I want to be as safe as possible with them. This means that if I'm not at the range and with the pistol aimed targetwise, it is not loaded, nor is any ammo anywhere near it. However, after a cleaning or field strip, especially of a mag, it's nice to know things work....so this brings me to dummy rounds and/or snap caps. First of all, what's the difference between them? Also, does anyone have recommendations? I see these.... http://americanesuperstore.stores.yahoo.net/gs40901.html

Answer: Many people use the term intechangeably Generally (and not taking a look at the link) a Snap cap will have a spring mechanism that will take the strike of the firing pin Dummy Rounds usually do not have this feature. Some differences to look out for some of these rounds will be all plastic... that is OK for some, but for doing extraction drills, I prefer a metal base... gives the extractor more meat to grab on to when extracting the round
